BEGINNINGS
Since its founding in 2013, the Alameda String Academy has served Alameda as a music school focused on building community through making great music together — teaching violin, viola, cello, and guitar, with an emphasis on chamber music.  Our faculty ensemble has been proud to provide innovative programming to thousands of children and their families over the years since the beginning of ASA, not only through our private instruction, ensembles and summer camps, but also through countless concerts in our community.

In the summer of 2019, ASA transitioned from being a school with a team of faculty, offering a variety of stringed instruments, to a violin school under the direct instruction of the director, Erica Ward.  The core mission remains, as does our tradition of regular studio classes, recitals, chamber music, and community performance events — just on a more intimate scale.

Interested in Guitar or Cello?

If you or your child would like to play the cello or classical guitar, we can highly recommend Lucas Chen and Ross Thompson. Lucas and Ross were founding teachers at ASA, and now operate their own independent studios.
